The coalition government has wasted no time in setting out severe and comprehensive spending cuts of 20%, with chancellor George Osbourne introducing a nine-point spending review for all government departments. Yet that may mean a wide-ranging and ambitious scheme to bring in cloud-based infrastructure and services across government, announced under the Labour administration in January, is more relevant than ever.
