Salvation Army Choose c.Support by Tricostar
04/08/2006
One of the largest charities in the world, The Salvation Army, has turned to Tricostar to supply its UK based International Headquarters with a Lotus Notes based helpdesk solution.
The charity, which works in 111 countries worldwide, has been using GWI’s helpdesk solution, c.Support, in its USA Central Office for 3 years. The success of this helpdesk solution in keeping inline with IT Best Practice and its compliance with IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) lead the international office in London to introduce the same helpdesk operation to handle IT enquiries from its staff.
The Salvation Army, a religious organisation and charity, established in 1865, is one of the largest, most diverse providers of social welfare in the world.
GWI’s c.Support from Tricostar is not the charities first helpdesk solution. Over the past 15 years, the international office in London has been using home grown solutions and competitor products, but the increasing costs and lack of significant development had become frustrating for the charity.
“We have 107,000 employees worldwide and it is therfore vital that we are using a solution that is keeping inline with IT Best Practice”, commented Mark Calleran, The Salvation Army’s CIO for the International Headquarters. “As we have a Lotus Notes based system and our USA Central office is currently using c.Support Domino, it was obvious that we considered this system, and the results were amazing. We were particularly interested in the systems Asset Management capabilities and its compliance with ITIL.”
When commenting on why The Salvation Army chose to work with Tricostar, Mark said: “We didn’t only choose c.Support as it was being used in our USA Central office, we wanted to work with a supplier that had a deep understanding of incident management and the different underlying technologies, Lotus Domino in this case, and Tricostar fitted the criteria perfectly.”
The helpdesk will be used to assist the charity in recording and tracking IT enquiries from their International Headquarters users and will allow them to monitor trends in the types of calls they are receiving and identify issues as they emerge.
Jeff Lawler of Tricostar added: “We are delighted to be working with such a high profile charity as The Salvation Army and we look forward to receiving their feedback.”
The contract win is a welcome addition to other recent wins such as Uponor, South Gloucestershire Council and Ideal Hardware Ltd.
